Burning Nest — conscious events in Newton Abbot

Burning Nest is the UK's biggest and longest-running Regional Burn, an officially recognised regional event inspired by Burning Man, its culture, community and the ten Burner Principles. It is a co-created community gathering focused on authenticity, self-expression, playfulness, depth, expanding perspectives and enjoying good company, and is explicitly not a festival: there are no headliners, spectators, VIP areas or commercial vending. Instead, the event is entirely volunteer-run and non-profit, with participation actively expected. Attendees co-create the experience by bringing art, leading workshops, performing or joining theme camps, guided by the philosophy that the more you put in, the more you get back. The gathering runs for around seven days in mid-to-late May on an independent site in the Devon countryside near Newton Abbot, with the exact location shared only with ticket holders closer to the event. Two ceremonial burns anchor the week: a high-energy Effigy Burn on the Saturday and a reflective Temple Burn on the Sunday, offering a space to process grief and loss. Tickets are sold on an inclusive sliding scale, keeping the event accessible. The result is an immersive, participant-driven community experience rooted in radical self-expression, gifting and communal effort in nature.
