Shakti Tantra describes itself as "Invitation to Pleasure … a school of Sexuality and Tantra", and states it has been running programmes for over 30 years. It offers residential and online programmes, with residential retreats taking place across England and Wales. Venues used for its scheduled events include Alexanderstone in the Brecon Beacons, Unstone Grange in Derbyshire, Cowslip Meadows near Market Harborough in Leicestershire, and Newhouse Farm Cottages in Devon. The teaching is organised into several strands. The Women's Programme is a women's-only tantra training, which the school states is the only one offered by a tantra school. The Mixed Programme is a multi-level course for individuals and couples, supplemented by speciality workshops and "Ying Yang days for men and women". Couples workshops combine principles and exercises from contemporary relationship theory with rituals and practices of sacred sexuality drawn from Tantra, Native American and Taoist teachings. Stand-alone workshops cover specific aspects of sexuality and more advanced topics, aimed at people who already have experience of working with tantra and sexuality. One-day "Top-Ups" give past participants an opportunity to practise material from earlier workshops. The school states that its workshops focus on the obstacles that keep people from their pleasure, and that the intention is to provide a safe container in which participants can confront defences and attitudes that restrict the flow of their sexual energy. Stated outcomes include enhanced self-awareness, increased self-esteem and confidence, support for dealing with trauma and abuse, and physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual renewal. Choice and consent are set out as central principles: everything is framed as an invitation and, in the school's words, no one is ever forced to do anything. It notes that people who become overwhelmed quickly, such as those with PTSD, may not be ready for the environment, and asks prospective participants to raise concerns before booking. Some Level 1 workshops have been offered on a "Gift Economy" basis, where participants pay only food and accommodation costs and contribute to tuition as they choose.
