World Yoga Festival is an annual four-day yoga festival, founded in 2016 and hosted by the Arsha Kula Foundation (UK Registered Charity No. 1171708). It is held each summer at Henley Showground, Marlow Road, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 3AS — described by the organisers as grounds in Berkshire, part of the Culden Faw Estate, in a country park beside the River Thames. The programme runs across a series of large, decorated and carpeted marquees and covers yoga asana from many different lineages, pranayama, meditation, non-duality, Ayurveda, chanting, kirtan, wisdom talks and music concerts. The organisers describe the event as somewhere between a retreat and a festival, with time to relax and attend entertainment alongside study of yoga as a way of life. Their stated aim is to explore the aspects of yoga usually left unexplored beyond asana and pranayama, referencing the eight limbs set out in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, with teachers drawn from a range of disciplines. The festival takes its direction from Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati and other teachers of what it calls the authentic yoga traditions. The organisers describe Sonali as the heart of the festival, a Reiki master who has studied many of the Eastern wisdom traditions, and Ram as its head, a computer scientist by training who runs classes on Vedanta. The festival also runs regular online classes. Activities run from 7.00am to 10.00pm, and alongside the yoga programme there are world food traders, a market, healers and a sauna area. A family area offers yoga sessions, philosophy talks, yoga stories, arts and crafts, rope walking and a teen cafe, with a children's tent suitable from birth to approximately age 12 and a separate teen tent for senior school age. Camping is included with a full Thursday-Sunday pass; glamping bell tents, pre-pitched tent hire, campervan hire and on-site hotel rooms at Henley Conference Centre & Hotel can be booked separately. There is a no open fire and no barbecue policy, and no dogs except assistance dogs.
