The School of Sensual Arts is a UK organisation founded by Henika Patel that teaches tantra, yoga, ayurveda and embodiment practices alongside Western therapeutic approaches. It works with individuals, couples and aspiring teachers, and its programmes are guided by its own trauma-informed SENSFUL Method. The programme has several strands. Shakti Circles are two-hour guided ceremonies led by Henika, run monthly online and combining a guided visual journey, journaling, embodiment, connection rituals and sharing. In-person Shakti Circles run in London and are tied to moon phases and seasonal points, adding movement, meditation, connection and community; a Shakti Flow tantra yoga class and circle has also run in London. Couples' events include Tantric Datenights in London, evenings of presence, connection and learning tools from the traditions of tantra, plus multi-day couples retreats overseas. Day retreats run in London on a seasonal calendar, some of them stated as open to she/her and they/them participants. Online rituals cover manifestation and self-pleasure practices. International retreats have included a five-night retreat at a villa on the Spanish coast at Alicante, with ayurvedic food from a local chef and practices from tantra, yoga and ayurveda, and a five-day couples retreat at a château in the Loire Valley, France. The school also delivers sessions at larger events, including a workshop on demystifying tantra at the Mind Body Spirit Festival at Kensington Olympia. For people wanting to lead, the school runs a two-day certified in-person Circle Holder Facilitator Training in London, teaching the seven-step SENSFUL method. Alongside events it offers a membership, self-paced online courses and private sessions. Henika Patel is a first-generation Indian woman born in England who left a career in law, studied in India and the Far East, then trained in arts therapy and clinical psychotherapy in London, where she is based. The school states she has over 2,000 hours of training and more than ten years of facilitation experience. Her book "Sensual: connect deeply, express freely, love intimately" was published by Hay House in May 2024. The teaching team includes yoga and tantra teachers, a sound healing teacher, a trauma therapist and an ayurvedic doctor.
