Ecstatic Dance Somerset

Ecstatic Dance Somerset runs regular sober conscious dance events, with its main monthly gathering held in central Bristol at St Michael's Parish Hall on Park Lane. Events typically take place on the second Saturday evening of the month, with doors closing at 8pm and attendees asked to arrive by 7.30pm so a safe container can form for the group to drop deeper into the dance. A session begins with an embodied warm-up facilitated by Josh Silver, followed by Josh DJing the first musical wave, then Amada taking the decks for the second wave, before closing with relaxation and integration music and an opportunity to socialise over complimentary teas. The events are designed to be inclusive, welcoming people of all backgrounds and levels of dancing experience aged 18 and over, in sober community - no prior dance experience is needed. Tickets are available in advance and a limited number are sold at the door for around £20, payable by cash or contactless. The organisers also welcome volunteers, who can help in exchange for a free dance. The practice follows the usual ecstatic dance guidelines: drug and alcohol-free, without talking on the floor, communicating instead through movement.
